Ola PTO Meeting
3/4/22

Welcome: Amy Davis, Aleah Nelson, Lori Buckendahl, Diane Wilson, Shannon Miller, Pat Malloy, Barbara Lang, Judie McCaulou, Principal Carter, Gloria Sutton.
Minutes: Last minutes were from the last poker run meeting in combination with the SOS Meeting and were approved at the October SOS Meeting
Budget: Monthly Reports for August-February were given, still waiting on a full year end report.
New Bills: Piano-approved $5000 for purchase in October 2021, will wait until delivery to send payment. Approved the purchase of name tags, guest book, luncheon supplies for May Day & Open House, ribbons, decorating supplies & party supplies. A motion was made by Amy Davis and Judie McCaulou seconded it.
Build A Shed: Teachers are so excited about their shed. They love it! Need to finish installing an upgraded ridge vent cap and paint the exterior trim.
School Open House: Scheduled for April 29th @ 10. The students will perform the May Day program. Ribbon cutting & Speeches @ noon and a fried chicken and potluck luncheon will be served. Can use money from winco card, costco card and thrivent card. PTO will purchase the fried chicken from Albertsons and ask parents and ladies club for sides, salads and deserts. A motion to purchase the supplies and food was made during the budget report. Amy will have the students write handwritten notes to the school board, superintendent and the donor list. Some will be copies. Aleah will make address labels to use and purchase stamps and envelopes. Lori motioned to approved purchase of stamps, envelopes and Barbara seconded.
School Shirts: Aleah and Route 52 are designing shirts for the students and staff. Teachers still need to pick their preferred shirt and sweatshirt and will be given on Teacher Appreciation Day. Gloria motioned to purchase the shirts and Pat seconded it.
Earth Day will not be done during the School Open House event, so that the day isn’t over crowded. However, Janet Hays and Thrivent donated garden beds and soil.
Kiwanis Bike Rodeo: A Kiwanis Member offered to bring up an airplane and Mrs. Davis will incorporate that with the current drone curriculum. Lori Buckendahl has a box of helmets she could donate to students from her mother.
Library Board Smoker: Library board is looking to invest in a large smoker for their prime rib valentine dinner as well as the Library Yard Sell hamburger cookout. It was decided that the PTO does not have enough invested in those events to pitch in on the resources side.
Step Ladder from hall: It was found in the pile to take back to Ola School at the Community Center and will be returned ASAP.
Poker Run: Saturday 25 June 2022-will make further plans and future meetings and the SOS Committee will handle much of the delegation.
New Pianos: The school and the community center will be receiving pianos. The school district received a grant and was able to purchase a new piano for the school. The other piano the PTO was given funds to use for and will use it to put one at the Community Center for plays and other performances. ***The Old Pianos will need to be removed the the school and the community center by the 9th of March! We are looking for those who are in need of pianos. Please let us know if you have anyone interested.
Easter: Easter is in April the week before the big Open House and it was decided that a big Easter Egg Hunt and party will not happen, but the PTO will purchase candy and do small easter gift bags for the kids with a small Easter Party on Friday the 15th. Amy motioned to pay for the gift bags and Diane seconded.
Possible Field Trip: Carberry is doing 4th, 5th & 6th grade pioneer days and invited us. The bus costs will be paid for by a grant that Carberry received.
